Summertime in Gargellen
This is an apt description of summer mountain holiday in Gargellen. Gargellen (1423m), highest resort of the Montafon mountain scenery: Deeply covered with snow in winter, it’s becoming a sunny nature paradise in springtime. Not only recreation is offered. Hikers, climbers, mountain bikers etc particularly appreciate the manifolded facilities and especially Gargellen as starting point due to its exposed location at the head of Gargellental close to the Swiss border.
Families find a variety of action and adventure – thanks to Family Fun Club with its very diverse leisure programme, starting from climbing in the high rope garden “Fun forest”, to guided excursions, afternoons for playing and many other things. Participation up to 17 years is free for young visitors of the Montafon villages.
Gargellen – close to the sun!
Well placed for walking tours and excursions is Schafbergplateu (2130 m). Access is given by Schafbergbahn (cable cabin for 8 persons). Not only the young and adventurous visitors appreciate the adventure parcours “Schmugglerland” – a combination of hiking experience (trails are suitable for all-terrain pushchairs), adventure play ground and petting zoo for the whole family. Hikers and climbers use it as starting point for round trips such as the Smuggler’s path, routes to Gafier Joch, Riedkopf, the mountain lakes and tarns, Madrisa and for excursions leading much farther.
Mentioned tours and routes are many-sided and come up to very different requirements that are always rewarded with formidable views across Rätikon and Silvretta Alps and into the bordering Switzerland. Up here, limestone and primary rocks collide – a geographical peculiarity with its very own formations and disruptions and which are absolutely recommendable – as recommendable as a lot more in Gargellen, the Montafon and surroundings.
